The City of Birmingham won a 2018 Smart Cities Challenge Grant for its plans to use digital technology to advance quality of life, particularly in the areas of public safety, energy and transportation. Representatives of the City of Birmingham, University of Alabama at Birmingham and Alabama Power will discuss the smart projects already underway in Birmingham and the grant’s resources that will accelerate that work. Participate in a conversation on what Birmingham should do as an innovative 21st century city that incorporates technology to achieve city-wide goals of livability, workability, social equity and economic competitiveness.
